For the heaviness that’s hard to explain — and hard to lift alone.
A system that has powered down can, slowly and gently, be brought back — without anyone rushing you toward cheerfulness you don’t feel.
It isn’t always sadness. Sometimes it’s just grey — a heaviness, a flatness, a sense of going through the motions of a life you can’t quite feel anymore. Nothing may even be obviously wrong, which somehow makes it worse: if you can’t point to a reason, you’re left thinking you should just be able to snap out of it. You can’t. And it isn’t laziness, or weakness, or a failure of will.
That’s what depression often is. This is a small, supportive group for adults living with low-grade to moderate depression — the heaviness, the numbness, the fog, the flat mornings. Held with real care and none of the “just think positive.” You’ll come to understand what depression actually is in the body, practice the small movements that gently flicker the system back on, and meet the harsh inner critic and the shut-down, numb part of you with compassion instead of shame. A private conversation comes first, so we can make sure a group is the right fit and the right moment for you.
Over six evenings, among a few people who understand, we move through it gently and in order.
Six sessions (sometimes eight), ninety minutes each, in a small closed group. Held in English, Ukrainian, or Russian.
Because this is tender and sometimes heavy work, it begins with a private conversation before it starts — so we can make sure a group is the right fit and the right moment for you, and that you have the level of support you need. If something else would serve you better first, I’ll help you find it.
If you’re in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, a group isn’t the right first step — please reach out directly, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, so you can get the right support now.
Groups run out-of-network and privately. Paying in full at enrollment holds your place for the whole series — and lets the group form as a stable, closed circle: the same people, from beginning to end.
A full refund if you withdraw before the first session. In the first two weeks, a prorated refund or a credit toward a future group. Once the group has formed, the remaining sessions aren’t refundable — the circle was built around your place in it — but if something serious comes up, talk to me and we’ll find a fair way through.
A superbill is available for possible partial reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Whether a group qualifies depends on its nature, so it’s best to check with your insurance company.
If you’ve been carrying a greyness you can’t quite explain, going through the motions and ashamed you can’t just lift it — you’re exactly who this is for, and you don’t have to carry it alone.
