The Distance Between Us

You crossed an ocean for them. They can’t tell you what it cost.

Two people can live the same years and carry entirely different immigrations — one who lost a country, one who never quite had it. The love was rarely the problem. It was shown in a language the other couldn’t always read.

The repair here happens with the actual person across the table — not in memory, not in effigy. You come as a pair, and you practice only with each other.

We work the way our couples groups do: short teaching, then private practice between the two of you. We name the debt in both directions, the shame neither of you spoke, and the questions the family kept in a locked room — and open the door to the closeness you can still build.

The six weeks

From two different immigrations to now.

Week
1

Two different immigrations

Same years, different experience. One lost a country. One never had it.
Practice
Each says what those years were like. The other doesn’t respond yet.
Week
2

The debt

What was sacrificed, what’s owed, and whether it was ever meant to be spoken.
Practice
Both directions — parents carry debt too.
Week
3

Love in a language you don’t share

Provision and worry versus words. Both were loving. Neither was received.
Practice
Naming how love was actually shown.
Week
4

The shame you never told each other

The child ashamed of the accent, then ashamed of being ashamed. The parent who knew.
Practice
The gentlest twenty minutes we’ll ask of you.
Week
5

What you couldn’t ask

Every immigrant family has a locked room.
Practice
One question. One answer.
Week
6

Now

Not repairing childhood. Building what you can have at 32 and 61.
Practice
Yours to keep.
How payment works
$95 per pair
Paid in full at enrollment

Groups run out-of-network and privately. Paying in full at enrollment holds your place for the whole series — and lets the group form as a stable, closed circle: the same people, from beginning to end.

Refunds

A full refund if you withdraw before the first session. In the first two weeks, a prorated refund or a credit toward a future group. Once the group has formed, the remaining sessions aren’t refundable — the circle was built around your place in it — but if something serious comes up, talk to me and we’ll find a fair way through.

Superbill

A superbill is available for possible partial reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Whether a group qualifies depends on its nature, so it’s best to check with your insurance company.

Reserve your spot

Seats are limited to keep the group small and safe. Reach out — we’ll find out together whether this is the right next step for you, and there’s no pressure either way.
