Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents

You were the grown-up. You were nine.

Six weeks for adults raised by emotionally immature parents — naming the role you took, and setting it down.

Some children grow up managing the adults. You learned to read the room before you could read a book — to shrink, or achieve, or keep the peace — and you may still be doing it, decades later, without noticing.

‘They did their best’ and ‘it damaged me’ are both true. This is six weeks of holding both without having to choose.

We name what emotional immaturity looked like, the role you took in that house, and the quiet hope that if you were finally good enough they’d become who you needed. Then we practice contact on your own terms.

The six weeks

From naming it to being your own adult.

Week
1

Naming it

Emotional immaturity — what it looked like, and why ‘they did their best’ and ‘it damaged me’ are both true.
Practice
Which type was yours? Emotionally distant, driven, passive, rejecting.
Week
2

The role you took

Every child in that house takes a job. Fixer, invisible one, achiever, peacemaker.
Practice
Naming yours. Noticing you’re still doing it at forty.
Week
3

The healing fantasy

The private, unspoken belief that if you were finally good enough — they’d become who you needed.
Practice
Saying yours out loud. This is the week that lands hardest.
Week
4

The part that still hopes

The part that keeps reaching, and the part that’s furious at it for reaching.
Practice
Meeting both without picking a side.
Week
5

Contact on your terms

Not estrangement, not compliance. Detached observation, lowered expectations, exits.
Practice
Scripting one specific interaction you dread.
Week
6

Being your own adult

What you’re building instead.
Practice
Yours to keep.
How payment works
$65 per person, per session
Paid in full at enrollment

Groups run out-of-network and privately. Paying in full at enrollment holds your place for the whole series — and lets the group form as a stable, closed circle: the same people, from beginning to end.

Refunds

A full refund if you withdraw before the first session. In the first two weeks, a prorated refund or a credit toward a future group. Once the group has formed, the remaining sessions aren’t refundable — the circle was built around your place in it — but if something serious comes up, talk to me and we’ll find a fair way through.

Superbill

A superbill is available for possible partial reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Whether a group qualifies depends on its nature, so it’s best to check with your insurance company.

Reserve your spot

Seats are limited to keep the group small and safe. Reach out — we’ll find out together whether this is the right next step for you, and there’s no pressure either way.
